Vishwaveer adopts another baby girl, Kaali, who has been abandoned. Kaali is believed to be Gauri’s ‘kaala teeka’ – a protection from evil energies. As a result, although the two girls are brought up in the same house, Kaali unfortunately is always ill- treated and goes through many hardships in order to keep Gauri safe. However, Kaali grows up to become a strong personality and in spite of being a victim to a heightened superstition, shines as a beautiful example of ‘Hope’.
